Get your Fall Fashion on with TJ Maxx and Marshall’s

One of the best things about my job is the perks.  What am I saying… it’s ALL about the perks and free shoes DEFINITELY fall into that category.  So when Mikinze (repping TJ Maxx and Marshall’s) contacted me and asked if i wanted to go shopping, I was happy as… well… a girl getting new shoes.

It was interesting to me to hear about how the discount stores work and how much of an increase in sales they’ve experienced since the economy has been slumping.  The GOOD news is, the clothes ain’t slumppin- ya heard?  Plus, they are constantly getting in new items.  ”It’s like a new store every week” Mikinsie told me.

Some additional #FallFashion tips from TJ Maxx and Marshall’s:

Sleek Sleeves: From the wide and elegant kimono-style to the more funky and fashion-forward dolman, sleeves are back in a big way. Pairing these tops with a form-fitting pair of pants or jeans creates a look just as perfect for the office as it is for a night on the town.

Glamorous Ponchos and Capelets: Feeling warm and cozy doesn’t have to mean dressing down.  Ponchos, ruanas and capelets, especially in luxurious boiled wools, spiced up with fringe or done in a chunky knit, are an easy way to fight the cold without sacrificing style. Try wearing them with a sweater dress and some buttery leather gloves for those first few chilly days of the season. The T.J.Maxx accessories department will be chock full of other great pieces such as floral or animal print scarves or jewelry like shoulder-skimming earrings or a stack of boho bangles to finish off these looks.

Fancy Faux Furs: Whether it’s adorning a purse or adding flair to a jacket, faux fur adds a touch of sass to accessories and clothes alike.  For a simple look, try plain furs in black and grey and when feeling a little more daring, take a walk on the wild side with an animal print.

Chic Leathers: Want a look that is tough yet sexy? Soft leathers (both real and faux) are an easy way to look rock and roll – even if you’re a bookworm when no one is looking. A motorcycle jacket and a pair of knee-high boots over some well-worn denim will get you there in a snap.

70’s Inspired: Wide-leg and flare silhouettes are back! Embrace the retro look and pair jeans or trousers with a tucked-in top and belt to minimize volume or a fitted top and vest for an effortlessly cool autumn look.

Spicy and Earthy Tones: From deep berries to rich jewel tones and all shades of browns and tans, the colors of fall match the gorgeous tones of nature. No matter if you’re topping off an outfit with the always in-style trench or just looking to add a pop of color with a quilted satchel, you can count on these classic colors lasting you all season long.

Fancy Footwear: Whether you want to go ankle- or knee-high, there is a boot or bootie to match every outfit this season, as well as a plethora of comfy shearling boots for showing feet a little love. From riding boots and wedges in seasonal shades like grey, brown and bordeaux to booties in animal prints or basic black, your local Marshalls Shoe MegaShop has this season’s top styles.

PS: On a social media tip, the USB drive they gave me that doubles as a clothespin is genius.
