Hey Chicago! This video includes my picks for things to do in Chicago this weekend! Find links to everything I talked about in the video, below:
To kick things off, you can Rock the Boat with Lincoln Park Young Professionals at the Columbia Yacht Club. They are going to have a fashion show, spa services, martinis, dj… Tickets are $20 online or $30 at the door.
The IMAGINE fashion show is also on Thursday. The International Academy of Design and Technology hosts this annual runway show. 40 student designers will have their clothing strutted on the runway at UIC Pavillion. Tickets start at $25.
Or if you wanna belly laugh Thursday… Check out Laugh Fest benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. 5 of Chicago’s funniest comedians will start performing promptly at 8pm and tickets start at $25
On Friday, what do you get when you mix the Museum of Contemporary Art and tastings of over 80 wines? A Friday art-fest called “Around the world in 80 sips” hosted by Bottlenotes. The doors open at 8pm and you can buy tickets online or at the door starting at $75
If a margarita happy hour is more your style- go see Clarence and my friends over at Uncle Julio’s at North and Clyborn.
If you still need to kick off your summer workout routine, head over to Grant Park this Saturday from 11-3 for Self Magazine’s “Workout in the Park” with Alison Sweeney, host of The Biggest Loser. Tickets are $20 and the workout goes on rain or shine. Yes, guys can come too.
Union Station will be the venue for Wine Riot Chicago on Saturday. Try over 250 different wines from every major country and region on the planet. Included are 20 minute wine crash courses, photobooth, and a roving wine intelligence unit waiting to answer your vino questions. There are 2 sessions of the wine riot on Saturday, both starting at $50, so check the site scheduling.
The Meatball Recipe Contest is happening on Sunday at the RoseBud Cafe from 2-7. This day long event marks the launch of Santa Margherita‘s Chianti Classico Riserva, 2007 vintage wine! Eight finalists will compete and be judged by local celebrities. Chef Ponzio will be serving up free samples of Rosebud’s famous meatballs, so make sure you roll in.
Regardless of the weather, it’s festival season so why not meet some friends Sunday, at Chicago Mayfest on Ashland and Barry. For $10 you’re doing your part to usher in the summer season in Chicago.
Of course, on Sunday night- make a little time to cheer on the home team the Chicago Bulls as the play game 3 against the Miami Heat. Pfft… Miami.
